The arrival of Syawal was enlivened with 12 cannon shots at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien in the capital, 20th March late afternoon.

The release of the shots was conducted by personnel of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces' Military Police. It is a tradition in Brunei Darussalam to welcome the arrival of the Muslim day of victory after fasting in Ramadhan.
